How to Use IQOS ILUMA: Step-by-Step Guide, Lights and Fixes

Short answer: insert a TEREA stick, press the button (or the holder starts automatically on some models), wait for the vibration that says it is ready, then puff normally for about 6 minutes or 14 puffs. ILUMA devices only work with TEREA sticks, and TEREA must never be used in older blade devices.

Which ILUMA do you have?

• ILUMA / ILUMA PRIME: holder plus pocket charger.
• ILUMA i / i PRIME: holder plus pocket charger, with a touchscreen, Pause mode and FlexPuff.
• ILUMA ONE / i ONE: all-in-one, no separate holder.

Using ILUMA step by step

1. Charge: charge the pocket charger (or the ONE) with the USB-C cable and adapter.
2. Take out the holder (ILUMA and ILUMA i). The holder recharges each time you put it back.
3. Insert a TEREA stick gently, filter end out, until it reaches the line.
4. Start: the device begins heating. On ILUMA i models the screen shows pre-heating progress.
5. Wait for the vibration that tells you it is ready, then start puffing.
6. Finish: the session lasts about 6 minutes or 14 puffs. The device vibrates near the end.
7. Remove the used stick and throw it in a bin, not on the ground.

ILUMA i features

• Pause mode: pause a session for up to 8 minutes and resume. Available in the first 3 minutes or 8 puffs.
• FlexPuff: adapts to how you puff and can add up to 4 extra puffs.
• Two in a row: up to two consecutive sessions in Performance mode.

Do I need to clean ILUMA?

ILUMA heats from inside the stick with no blade, so it does not need blade cleaning like older IQOS devices. Wipe the cavity opening and outside occasionally with a dry cloth.

Common problems

• Will not start: charge the device. Make sure you are using a TEREA stick, not HEETS.
• Stick tastes weak: check you inserted it to the line. Very humid storage can also affect taste.
• Red or warning light: the device may be too hot or too cold. Let it reach room temperature and try again. If it continues, reset the device following the IQOS instructions.
