RELX Not Working? Common RELX Problems and How to Fix Them
Quick fix first: most RELX problems are solved by three steps. 1) Charge the device fully. 2) Remove the pod, wipe the metal contacts on the pod and device with a dry tissue, and push it back in until it clicks. 3) If the taste is weak or burnt, replace the pod. If none of that works, find your symptom below.
These fixes apply to the RELX Infinity, Infinity 2, Infinity Plus, Essential and Artisan, and to Pod Pro and Pod Pro 2 pods.
1. Light flashes but no vapor
Likely causes: low battery, pod not seated, or dirty contacts.
- Charge for at least 15 to 30 minutes.
- Remove the pod and wipe the gold contacts on both the pod and the device.
- Reinsert the pod firmly. Try a different pod to rule out a faulty one.
2. Burnt or harsh taste
- Old pod: it is empty or nearly empty. Replace it. An empty pod will not taste better after a rest.
- New pod: it was puffed before the cotton soaked. Leave it for five minutes, then take gentle puffs.
- Infinity 2 on Boost: long, hard puffs in Boost can dry the wick. Switch to Smooth.
3. Weak flavor or little vapor
The pod is running low, or you are drawing too gently for the sensor. Take a steady two to three second puff. If the flavor has faded across several pods, check they are genuine.
4. Liquid in your mouth or gurgling
Remove the pod and blow gently through the mouthpiece into a tissue. Avoid very hard puffs, and do not store the device mouthpiece-down. Usually this settles within a few puffs.
5. Leaking pod
Heat is the usual cause. A car in UAE summer can get hot enough to thin the liquid. Keep devices and spare pods out of direct sun and hot cars. If a pod leaks straight out of the pack, it may be damaged or fake.
6. Device will not charge
- Try a different cable and plug. Many problems are a faulty cable.
- Clean the charging port gently with a dry, soft brush or a wooden toothpick.
- Charge for 30 minutes before deciding it is dead.
7. Battery drains fast
Every lithium battery loses capacity with age. If an older device that used to last all day now does not, it may be time to upgrade. The Infinity 2 has a 440 mAh battery and fast charging.
8. Device fires by itself
Remove the pod immediately. Liquid on the sensor can make it fire. Let the device dry out for a few hours, wipe the contacts and try again. If it continues, stop using it.
9. Infinity 2 power modes do not work
Modes only work with Pod Pro 2 pods. An older Pod Pro runs at fixed power.
10. New pod does not fit
Check the pod type. Pro-series devices take Pod Pro and Pod Pro 2. Other brands’ pods, and some older RELX pods, do not fit. See our RELX pods guide.
Is it fake?
Many “faulty pod” problems come from counterfeit pods: weak taste, leaks and burnt hits. Learn the signs in how to spot fake RELX pods.
Safety
Stop using a device that gets hot, swells, smells of burning plastic or has a damaged case. Do not charge it unattended overnight, and dispose of old devices at an e-waste point rather than in household rubbish.
